Mountain Climbing Expeditions

All three outfitters at Bear Basin Ranch offer high mountain climbing or technical climbing as an element of larger and longer packtrip, adventure or custom programs, or as a weekend activity in and of itself.

All climbing programs take place in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, and the difficulty of the expedition will always be crafted to mirror the party's age, experience, and skill level.

KB Mountain Adventures offers technical climbing and instruction as part of its weekend getaway program and as part of its multi-day, multi-adventure 'Mountain Sports Week' program. KB Mountain Adventures also offers excellent custom climbing programs, in large part because Bob Connell, the director, has climbed rock, ice and alpine style in the Rockies and Cascades, Nepal, Tibet, India, Peru, Scotland, and Africa, and has been a part of four expeditions to Mt. Everest.

Adventure Specialists
offers climbing expeditions and instruction as part of its custom programs both in Colorado and abroad. A seasoned climbing expert, co-owner Gary Ziegler has spent several decades exploring the remote Andes and his accomplishments include the first ascents of seven major ice peaks as well as the discovery of new archaeological sites in Peru.

Bear Basin Packtrips offers two climbing programs for guests to choose from. The 'Peak Baggers' Delight' five-day climbing packtrip and the more technical 'Crestones' Climber' weekend program. Climbing and instruction can always be added as part of a custom program as well.
